The interplay of color and pattern fascinate me. The concept of the "the same but different" permeates my work as a whole. My quilts make no statement other than to present themselves as colorful, structured objects to delight the eye. In particular, the bright and abstract fabrics of Africa are my favorite "paints". The glow and shimmer of these fabrics excite my imagination. The tactile and sensory process of handling fabric and thread while making a quilt is different from any other artistic process. Quiltmaking is very time-consuming, yet I learn something new each time I make a quilt.
